Relationships are a vital part of running a retirement plan, and the quality of the connection to a recordkeeping service representative can often be the reason a plan sponsor remains with a particular provider—or doesn’t.
The PLANSPONSOR Service Star awards program recognizes retirement plan account representatives and relationship managers who, in the words of their plan sponsor clients, have demonstrated truly admirable service over the past year.
The awards are given both to individuals and teams. So often is the client service manager, who has direct contact with the sponsor client, backed up by specific individuals within the recordkeeping organization, it only makes sense to recognize them as a unit.
The five individuals and six teams profiled on the following pages were chosen by the PLANSPONSOR surveys and research team, who sorted through a few thousand nominations and comments plan sponsors wrote while answering the 2016 PLANSPONSOR Defined Contribution (DC) Survey.
Plan sponsors responding to the survey singled out their reps by name and told stories of how the individuals or teams provided commendable service. These examples often described routine actions: helping with conversions, tracking down reporting, onboarding new employees. However, in those instances, the Service Stars selected showed a level of dedication that went above and beyond.
Once again this year, most of the Service Stars joined us in March for the PLANSPONSOR/PLANADVISER Awards for Excellence dinner in New York City—it was great to meet them in person. Congratulations to those selected, and thank you to the plan sponsors who nominated them so we could get to know them!
