Encourage Russians To Work Past Retirement Age

22 June 2012 (PLANSPONSOREurope.com) - Encouraging Russians to continue working post retirement is an alternative to increasing the country’s retirement age, according to Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov.

News agency IANS/RIA Novosti reports Siluanov told a news channel: "The issue of the retirement age can be solved not by increasing it but by encouraging our citizens to continue working after retirement."

According to Siluanov, the government is currently preparing a proposal on pension reform; the question of its necessity is actively being discussed in the cabinet.

"I think that soon we will develop proposals that will become the basis for the pension reform," said the minister.
Previously, the Russian finance ministry did not rule out the possibility of increasing the retirement age.
