SURVEY SAYS: Summer Reading List 2021

PLANSPONSOR readers share what’s on their summer reading list.

Last week, I asked NewsDash readers, “Will you be taking a trip this Memorial Day weekend?” I also asked them to share what is on their reading list or what they recommend for other’s reading lists this summer.

Nearly seven in 10 (68%) of responding readers work in a plan sponsor role, 23% are recordkeepers/TPAs/investment consultants, and 9% are advisers/consultants.

Several readers who left comments expressed excitement about the first holiday they can celebrate after being vaccinated. A few posted reminders that Memorial Day is a day to remember and be grateful for those who gave their lives for our freedom; and we are very thankful. Editor’s Choice goes to the reader who said: “Every year, your readers suggest authors that are new to me. I write down their names and look up their genre. I then order audio books from those that sound most promising. Thank you to NewsDash readers for broadening my horizons!”

Thanks to all who participated in the survey!

Verbatim

I’m playing catchup on all my books, but I prefer memoirs and biographies – Katharine Hepburn and Lauren Bacall’s books are some of the best!

I have a few novels and autobiographies lined up.

Every year, your readers suggest authors that are new to me. I write down their names and look up their genre. I then order audio books from those that sound most promising. Thank you to NewsDash readers for broadening my horizons!

Seems I’m too busy with other things that I can’t sit down to read a good book. Sad.

I love beach reads in the summer! They go really fast and are just fun and silly.

Will be celebrating the ending of Covid-19 lock downs with our vaccinated friends and family

I will proudly fly my American Flag to honor those for whom the holiday was created. Might venture out to our local park and walk some trails. I live in a condo, so grilling is not an option. Might get a pizza. The pizza folks are probably ‘hungry’ for business that day. 🙂

I plan to read the prequel to the Hunger Games, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes on Memorial Day weekend; work on our garden and relax.

I should be fully vaccinated by Memorial Day, but I plan to keep on reading all summer long…

I plan on doing a lot of reading and not much traveling.

Read to learn from others on how to improve this world!

We don’t normally travel for this holiday so it will be no different than pre-pandemic for us. Just heading to the pool and cooking out with friends and family.

Spending Memorial Day and the lake, on our pontoon and celebrating our 40th anniversary with my beautiful wife.

We go to the NASCAR races in Charlotte. My husband retired from the Navy and my brother is a disabled Marine. NASCAR goes out of their way to recognize our service people, both those that gave the ultimate sacrifice (and the purpose of Memorial Day), and for those that were/are willing to. Covid cancelled those plans for last year and we won’t miss it this year!

Looking forward to sitting out in the sun and reading many novels this summer while enjoying an adult beverage.

Whether you are traveling, taking a hike, reading a book, having a picnic or a family gathering, Take a moment to remember those who served and lost their lives.

We all need to remember that Memorial Day isn’t really about a kickoff to summer, but about remembering and honoring those who have died while serving our country in the United States Armed Forces.

I hope I can read as much this summer as I did last summer. There was nothing else to do last year!

So excited about Memorial Day! First holiday where everyone (besides the kids) will be fully vaccinated so we can pretend for a day that things are normal. Yay!
