Americans Are Unhappy With Work/Life Balance
Eighty percent of American workers are unhappy with the balance struck between their working lives and the rest of their life. This in turn translates to a complete lack of satisfaction with their job as an even greater majority (83%) said they were not satisfied with their job, according to Monster’s 2003 Work/Life Balance survey.
Further, most of those polled consider themselves overworked (57%), with the greatest number chipping in between 40 and 50 hours a week (46%) compared to:
- 50 hours or more – 25%
- Between 25 and 40 hours – 19%
- Fewer than 25 hours – 10%.
Despite the long hours, Americans are not alone in the world when it come to extended workplace schedules. More than half (57%) of European Monster Meter respondents said they put in more than 40 hours per week.
