Employee Recognition Still Very Much Alive

October 31, 2002 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Executives lucky enough to have top-notch workers continue to embrace employee recognition programs despite the weak economy and faltering stock markets, according to a new study.

The study by WorldatWork, a compensation professionals trade group, and the National Association for Employee Recognition, found that 84% of responding companies have a program to honor workers for their accomplishments.

Researchers said the figure was approximately the same as in last year’s study, taken just before the September 11 attacks. “This shows, ” researchers wrote,” that despite a tough economy over the past year, companies realize the importance of making sure their top performers are happy.”
