Vault: Paid Internships Up 7%

April 23, 2007 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The number of students who said they landed paid internships went up 7% over last year, according to a recent survey by Vault Inc.

According to the fourth annual internship survey by Vault of 519 college students, of the 71% that were paid for their internships, more than half brought in at least $11 an hour.

Just over three-quarters (74%) of students said they will have completed at least one internship by graduation, which includes internships that follow graduation.

The survey also found that 61% of students have already lined up their internships for the summer, down a slight 1% from those who had done so at this time last year (62%).

Students have completed internships in finance (30%), media and entertainment (8%) and non-profit (8%), science and technology (9%) and others, according to the survey.
