Alerus Retirement Solutions Updates Plan Sponsor Portal

October 24, 2011 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Alerus Retirement Solutions, a division of North Dakota-based Alerus Financial, N.A., has gone live with PlanServe’s Relevant Pension Portal.

Alerus Retirement Solutions converted over 2,500 plan sponsors to PlanServe’s Relevant Pension Portal.  The firm says the ‘Plan Gateway’ provides employers deeper access to plan data and easier access to manage plan accounts. This Web rollout to sponsors follows a redesigned participant portal in 2010.

The redesigned sponsor portal gives employers access to information in a presentation that is easy to understand and use. The portal’s dashboard shows current plan statistics and recent activity so employers can immediately focus on key events, including the ability to drill down to see detail by participant. It also allows Alerus to target tailored alerts to employers for reporting.

A press release said the on-demand reporting not only allows employers to download the information as a PDF or CSV, but also archives the reports securely for audit reference.

“This portal allows us to provide the control and access our employers have asked for, and need, to provide the best possible retirement experience for our participants,” said Brian Overby, President of Alerus Retirement Solutions, in the announcement.

Putnam Launches Retirement Income Funds and Planning Tool

October 24, 2011 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – Putnam Investments announced the launch of Putnam Retirement Income Lifestyle Funds, a suite of three income-oriented mutual funds, along with a Retirement Income Analysis Tool.

The Putnam product suite, working in coordination with the new planning tool, is designed to help provide financial advisers with the ability to execute a variety of income strategies for their clients’ retirement years, including the ability to generate income while waiting for Social Security benefits to commence, create a sustainable stream of lifetime income based on expected longevity, and estimate related assets that can be earmarked for heirs.

The Putnam Retirement Income Analysis Tool will generate customized lifetime income projections, utilizing scenario-planning based on a number of determining factors – income needs, life expectancy, risk tolerance, and other key financial variables. The tool, when used by advisers, will then suggest possible investment solutions, varying in risk/return characteristics, from the new Putnam Retirement Income Lifestyle Funds suite.
