Asia Fund Flows Put at $6.3B

December 17, 2010 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – October mutual fund flows in Asia were US$6.3 billion, according to Strategic Insight (SI) data.

SI, an Asset International company, said the October net flows by country included Japan ($3.1 billion), Hong Kong ($0.2 billion), China ($1.3 billion), Malaysia $0.4 billion), Thailand ($0.8 billion), Indonesia ($0.2 billion),  Philippines ($0.1 billion),  Taiwan ($0.4 billion), Korea ($1.2 billion),  and India (-$1.3 billion).

By asset class, SI said, the Asia October flows were Bond Emerging Markets ($1.5 billion), Bond High Yield ($4 billion), Real Estate ($1.3 billion), Bond AUD ($886 million), Bond Asia LC ($989 million), Equity Asia Pacific Ex Japan ($431 million), Equity Latin America ($-868 million), Equity China ($399 million), and Bond Convertibles ($365 million).

Among new fund highlights in the month, Nomura Deutsche HighDiv Infra Rltd EQ fund in Japan absorbed $0.7 billion, while China’s Dacheng Jingfeng Dual-class Bond and Yinhua Growth Pioneer Hybrid fund each pulled in about $0.5 billion.
