EBSA Offers Another Free Fiduciary Seminar

February 4, 2009 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Next week plan sponsors in the Long Island area will have a chance to learn how to "get it right."

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) is sponsoring another of its free compliance assistance seminars; “Getting It Right – Know Your Fiduciary Responsibilities.”   The seminar will take place on February 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET at the Melville Marriott Long Island at 1350 Old Walt Whitman Road in Me, New York.

This seminar is part of EBSA’s national fiduciary education campaign to increase awareness and understanding of basic responsibilities associated with operating private sector retirement plans.   Partners include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Society for Human Resource Management.

Evercore Asset Management Adds Core Equity Team

February 3, 2009 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Evercore Asset Management, LLC (EAM), an institutional money manager specializing in small- and mid-cap equities, announced the addition of a small- and mid-cap core team to the firm, effective February 1, 2009.

The five members of the investment team are: Christopher J. Fasciano, Chief Investment Officer of Core Equities; Timothy D. Buckley, Portfolio Manager; and Senior Research Analysts Michael P. Evans, Susan S. Hager, and Ray Lewis. According to the announcement, the new members of EAM have worked together for more than a decade, most recently as the small- and mid-cap core equity team at Angelo Gordon Asset Management.

The new team will operate independently out of Boston and will be supported by EAM’s client service, operations, trading, and compliance infrastructure. Team members will report to said Greg Sawers, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of EAM.
