Ex-PBGC Lawyers Set Up Pension Law Firm

January 7, 2005 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Two former lawyers at the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) have left the agency to start their own Washington, DC law firm specializing in PBGC legal issues.

James Keightley, former PBGC general counsel, and Harold Ashner, former assistant general counsel for legislation and regulations, left the PBGC in December 2004 to set up the Keightley & Ashner. William Beyer, former PBGC deputy general counsel, also left to work at the firm.

The firm will specialize in all matters relating to the PBGC, including plan terminations, PBGC involvement in corporate transactions and bankruptcies, reporting and disclosure requirements, premiums, audits, penalty assessments, and benefit determinations.
