Fewer Employees Cite a Princely Sum as Most Important Benefit

October 30, 2007 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Engineers in the mechanical, electrical and plumbing sectors would prefer health benefits or interesting work over a hefty paycheck, according to a recent poll.

The poll on MEP Jobs, an online Web site for engineers in the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing sectors, found that 20% said they most valued health benefits, 21% valued interesting work, and 36% said they wanted a fat paycheck.

The poll results showed a shift in what these employees value in terms of benefits compared to 2005 poll resuts.

In 2005, 59% said they valued a large paycheck and only 10% of employees said they thought “interesting work” was very important.
