"Getting Along" Tops CFO Hire Criteria
October 9, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The ability to
work well with others tops the list of "must have" attributes
for management candidates, cited by 26% of chief financial
officers (CFOs) in a new survey by RHI Management
Resources.
Reported by Nevin E. Adams
That topped industry experience (21%), which was ranked second. When CFOs were asked, “Which single factor weighs most heavily in your decision to hire a management-level job candidate?” they also noted:
- 19% – proven accomplishments
- 15% – years of experience
- 12% – technical knowledge
- 7% – other/don’t know
The survey was conducted by an independent research firm and includes responses from 1,400 CFOs from a stratified random sample of U.S. companies with more than 20 employees.
