Golden Arches Reaches McSettlement in Obesity Discrimination Suit
Terms of the deal between plaintiff Joseph Connor and McDonalds were not disclosed, according to an Associated Press report.
Connor claimed in the suit that the company violated the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and state employment law. He demanded $300,000 for financial loss and severe emotional trauma, along with a job at McDonald’s (See Obese Man Sues McDonald’s for Discrimination).
Connor’s attorney, Gary Phelan, said Connor does not have a job with the chain, but would not discuss the settlement beyond that.
According to court documents, Connor had been offered a $6.75 an hour job as McDonald’s cook at a Connecticut restaurant after attending a job fair in 2000. However, over ensuing weeks, Connor claimed that after arrangements were made for him to get a uniform, he never got another call from management.
