Grads Opt For Stability, Not Startups
May 3, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - This year's crop of
college graduates is more interested in a stable work
environment than quick riches, according to a new
survey.
Reported by Nevin E. Adams
Just 12% of today’s college grads are interested in going to work for a start-up, a drop of more than 50% from a year ago, according to a new survey from JOBTRAK.COM.
Fortune 1000 firms are now the employer of choice, cited by more than a third (36%) of 1000 near-graduate and graduate respondents, up from 31% a year earlier.
A year ago 26% had expressed an interest in working for a start-up.
Interest in mid-sized employer positions increased somewhat, from 27% to 35%, while 17% were leaning toward self-employed, roughly in line with last year’s findings.
