Hedge Funds Ahead by 1.73% in September
The top 25% of hedge funds gained an average of 2.62% in September, while the bottom quarter was up an average 0.34% for the month. Emerging Markets sector funds, the month’s top performing strategy, were up an average of 3.71% in September. By comparison, the S&P 500 was ahead 0.70% during the period.
Through September, hedge funds had a 6.32% year-to-date average gain. The top 25% of hedge funds gained 9.73% for the year-to-date, while the bottom 25% was up 1.31% over the same period. The S&P 500 is up 1.39% in the January to September period.
Hedge funds included in these calculations were up 0.86% on average in August. The top 25% of hedge funds gained an average of 1.45% in August, while the bottom 25% was up an average of 0.05% during the same period.
