Houston Firefighters CIO Departs
July 29, 2002 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Danny J. Bowers,
chief investment officer of the $1.6 billion Houston
Firefighters' Relief and Retirement Fund, has left the fund
to pursue other opportunities.
Reported by Nevin E. Adams
Bowers, who has been with the fund for the past 10 years, was named the fund’s first chief investment officer in 1993. Since then, the fund has more than doubled in size, according to a statement from executive director Max Patterson.
“The time is right to take my knowledge and expertise to new arenas,” said Bowers, who plans to pursue other investment-related responsibilities, such as consulting or the energy sector.
A replacement has not been announced.
The Houston Firefighters’ Relief and Retirement fund, created in 1937, provides retirement, disability, and death benefits for firefighters and their beneficiaries.
