International Internships Seen as Key Experience

May 21, 2007 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Not only is an internship now considered imperative to the success of freshly-graduated individuals entering the job market, but nearly 60% of college students say an international internship is crucial for success.

The Vault Inc. survey found that 40% of students in the U.S. have interned abroad.

The reasons students cited for choosing an international internship included wanting to experience a new culture (60%), a desire to learn a new language (7%) and an interest in moving to a foreign country after graduation (33%).

The ways in which students landed an international internship included networking (46%), college career centers (21%), school clubs and organizations (12%) and responding to job postings (9%), among others.
