Janus Taps Putnam Exec as CFO
August 24, 200l (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Janus Capital
has named Loren Starr, a former executive at rival Putnam
Investments, as its new chief financial officer. The CFO
position had been vacant since last September when Steven
Goodbarn stepped down to pursue other interests.
Reported by Nevin E. Adams
Starr served as managing director and head of corporate finance at Boston-based Putnam since 1998. Previously, Starr worked as a senior vice president at investment bank Lehman Brothers and as a vice president at Morgan Stanley.
Since Goodbarn’s resignation, three other Janus executives have handled the CFO duties. Goodbarn left the firm less than a month after chief investment officer Jim Craig (see Charity Begins at Home).
Putnam has not yet named a successor to Starr, who begins work at Janus on September 28.
