Riding the Tiger: Risky “Assessment”
The Department of Labor's (DoL) final qualified
default investment alterÂnative (QDIA) regulations provided
that three types of investment options can serve as default
investments in those situations where participants do not
provide investment directions, giving fiduciaries safe harbor
protection—target-date funds, balanced funds, and managed
accounts.
