MassMutual Hires Two to Support Nonprofit Business

September 8, 2011 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – The MassMutual Retirement Services Division announced the additions of Carl Steinhilber and Roderick Toppin to support its nonprofit retirement plan market business.   

Both Steinhilber and Toppin will focus on expanding the company’s success in the nonprofit marketing by providing product, investment, market, and technical expertise for the company’s distribution channel relationships and customers in that market. 

Steinhlber joined the company as a national nonprofit practice leader for  its retirement services business. He comes to MassMutual from ING’s retirement services business, where he spent almost 23 years focusing on the public sector and nonprofit markets.

Toppin joined the company as managing director serving the nonprofit market in the eastern region. He brings with him over 10 years of experience in the retirement services industry, primarily focused on pricing, investment, and plan design in the nonprofit market. He joined MassMutual from ING’s retirement services business, where he served in a variety of product development and product management initiatives.  

Northern Trust Expands Asset Management Capabilities in Asia-Pacific

September 8, 2011 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Northern Trust has announced plans to provide index equity portfolio management to institutional clients from its Hong Kong office.

To lead the development of its expanded asset management capabilities in Hong Kong, Northern Trust has made two key appointments: Patrick Dwyer, Senior Portfolio Manager in the global index equity team, and Craig Annakin, who joined Northern Trust as Head of Asian Dealing, responsible for setting up the new Asian dealing desk.  

Dwyer will be responsible for the management of international index portfolios.  He joins the office with a range of experience in managing index mandates including developed, emerging and frontier markets, as well as currency and future overlays. According to the announcement, Dwyer transferred from Northern Trust’s Chicago office in March and has been involved in setting up the portfolio management capability and hiring.

Annakin joined Northern Trust in May from Deutsche Asset Management in Singapore, where he headed up operations for the Asia region’s dealing desks. In addition to his Asian responsibilities, he had a global role on strategic, performance and process outlook of the global footprint, including New York and Frankfurt.
