MassMutual Retirement Services Updates Web Portal

October 6, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - MassMutual's Retirement Service division has announced the enhancement of its Total Retirement Center, which is available to its defined benefit, defined contribution, and total retirement services plan sponsors.

The enhancements on the preexisting Web site will allow, among other things, the automation of routine tasks, according to a press release. Also, the new site will provide a secure process by which to transmit data on demographics and compensation. With this information, MassMutual can provide services such as calculating participant eligibility, sending personalized enrollment materials, as well as sending out personalized packets upon termination or retirement, the company said.

The enhancements also include immediate feedback and error correction on files, expanded e-mail capabilities, and a file mapping system that enables MassMutual to accommodate differing file formats.

These enhancements come on the heels of others at MassMutual’s online portal, where changes were made to loan monitoring systems, payroll systems and updates, and web-based plan processing.

MassMutual Retirement Services ( www.massmutual.com/retire ) is part of the MassMutual Finance Group, which has over $285 billion under management.

CSFB Acquiring Volaris

May 22, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) has announced plans to acquire New York-based equity-options strategies firm Volaris Advisors.

Volaris will be aligned with CSFB’s Private Client Services business unit, a provider of investment advice to high net worth clients, foundations, endowments and institutions, once the deal is finalized, according to a news release.

Volaris provides yield-enhancement and volatility management services to private clients.   The company’s current business model addresses the market volatility of a stock, or portfolio of stocks, as an asset class in itself that can be managed for the benefit of an investor while holding the position. Applying an asset management approach to options strategies using market-based factors and sophisticated analytics, Volaris provides volatility management to its clients, the company said.
