Medical Costs Top the List of Risk Managers Concerns

April 25, 2007 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The greatest fear among risk managers is by far rising medical costs, with 52% of managers in a recent survey saying that was their biggest concern, followed by pandemics.

The survey of risk managers by Specialty Risk Services (SRS), a property-casualty third party administrator for workers’ compensation and liability claims, found that 12% worry about pandemics, followed by privacy issues and unhealthy employees, both 6%.

However, risk managers expect these concerns to shift in the next five years, with talent management and unhealthy employee populations ranking at the top of the list, both with 37%, followed by rising medical costs at 34%.
