Mercer Adds Consultants to Health and Benefits Team

April 12, 2012 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - D’Ann Whitehead and Carol Malenka joined Mercer as principals and health and benefits consultants in its San Francisco office.

Whitehead will lead Mercer’s Western U.S. Total Health Management practice, which helps clients improve the health and productivity of their workforces while reducing overall health care costs.  Malenka will assist clients in the Northern California market with health and welfare compliance issues.They will both report to Nadya O’Connell, partner and senior health and benefits consultant.  

Whitehead brings more than 25 years of experience to Mercer, having most recently served as vice president, employer segment for WebMD Health Services, Inc. where she had responsibility for the development and retention of more than 100 employer accounts. She also held leadership positions at Watson Wyatt Worldwide (now Towers Watson), Chevron Corporation, HCA Partners in Health (Oklahoma City) and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

Malenka brings also brings more than 25 years of experience to her new role and joins Mercer from the law firm Hanson Bridget, LLP (San Francisco) where she served as partner. In this capacity she counseled private and government clients on the design and administration of health and welfare as well as retirement plans. Prior positions included in-house employee benefits counsel for the California State Automobile Association and Pacific Bell. 

Whitehead holds a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Baylor University. Malenka holds a JD from The University of California, Hastings College of Law.
