The company cites an unemployment report released this morning by the US Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics saying about 1.35 million US citizens ages 50 and older were unemployed and actively seeking jobs as of October as the proof for the need of such a service. The statistics show the 50-plus group of unemployed job seekers in October represented about 16% of the total number of unemployed persons in the US last month, up from 16.44% in October 2002, the company said. Overall, this segment represents about 27% of the US population – 77 million people.

RetireeCareers.com estimates that approximately 1000 new job listings and about 100 new resume postings will be added to its site on a daily basis. While RetireeCareers.com’s content is geared to the “50+” jobseeker, people of all ages are welcome to use the site’s services.
