A 2023 report by the U.S. Government Accountability Office identified improved financial literacy as a key factor for improving retirement preparedness and helping to close the racial retirement savings gap.

“New York Life’s mission is to be there when people need us and we’re at our best when we’re partnering with families and bringing them together,” said Amy Hu, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at New York Life Insurance, via email. “Connecting through sports is a powerful backdrop for bringing families together and we’ll be leveraging these relationships to highlight our values, shape perceptions of the company and create unique opportunities for consumers to understand who we are and the advice and guidance that we offer.”

New York Life created the MLB partnership to build opportunities to deliver financial education by connecting its more than 12,000 financial professionals to local Little League baseball and softball programs in their communities, according to the release. New York Life was also named official sponsor of Little League, the Little League World Series and presenting sponsor of the MLB Little League Classic held each August in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

New York Life and MLB will also host fan engagement events, giveaways, community celebrations and support the game’s growth at the youth level.

Through the partnership with the federation responsible for governing soccer in the U.S., New York Life will also continue to highlight the importance of advice and guidance in soccer by providing resources to help evolve the federation’s Coach for Community program, which was developed in 2021.
