The governor’s proposal came in his annual State of the State speech were he addressed a wide variety of educational and economic reforms. In addition to the mandatory paid days off, McGreevey mentioned giving parents a day-care option that combines state and private programs, increased job training and expanded health care.

Speaking to his job-training proposal, McGreevey outlined a plan tocombine the 27 current state programs that provide some sort of job training into one department. This in turn would nurture small businesses and provide residents better access to jobs, McGreevey said.
