Pentegra Adds 2 Cybersecurity Experts to Board of Directors
The new board members have expertise in cyber risk management, policy development and regulatory compliance.
Pentegra Services Inc., a provider of retirement plan and fiduciary outsourcing solutions, announced Monday that it has added two cybersecurity experts to its board of directors.
Yonesy F. Núñez, a global information security executive, and Gregory Wilson, a global digital and cybersecurity risk oversight and compliance expert, are the new additions to the board, as of July 1, according to Pentegra. The announcement coincides with the retirement of Tony Whitaker, who served on the Pentegra board for nearly two decades.
A spokesperson from Pentegra said cybersecurity is a top priority for any financial services organization today.
“As one of America’s oldest and most experienced institutional fiduciaries, helping clients and partners manage and reduce the risk associated with managing a retirement plan is what we do, and we are thrilled to have such expertise on our board,” the spokesperson said. “Both Dr. Núñez and Mr. Wilson are expert leaders with impressive legacies of professional success. As a fiduciary organization, our board places significant emphasis on risk management, and their deep expertise in managing risk and impressive professional experience and broad business backgrounds align well with our strategic goals for the organization.”
Núñez has extensive experience in “all aspects of cybersecurity,” according to the announcement, including information technology risk management, policy development and regulatory compliance. Núñez currently serves as managing director and chief information security officer for the Depository Trust & Clearing Corp., where he leads cybersecurity and technology risk management.
Wilson joins the board with nearly 25 years of international experience and more than 10 years of board and governance experience. With extensive experience as a chief information security officer, Wilson has spent much of his career responsible for the strategic development and execution of the information, security, risk and privacy programs at several firms. He also possesses an active U.S. Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance.
Wilson currently serves as chief information security officer for Docupace Technologies. He also serves on the CNBC Technology Executive Council, Boston CXO Executive Committee and Secure World Boston Advisory Boards.
Pentegra’s increased focus on cybersecurity comes as plan sponsors are becoming increasingly concerned about cybersecurity incidents or data breaches affecting their plans.
Two significant data breaches have occurred in the last few months, exposing the personal information of plan participants. More than 451,000 plan participants at J.P. Morgan Chase were impacted by a data breach in April, and 1,883 employees who participate in the Walmart 401(k) Retirement Plan and use recordkeeper Merrill Lynch had their personal data exposed in May.
