Player’s Daughter Defrauded NFL Pension

February 4, 2013 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – An ex-NFL player’s daughter pled guilty to pension fraud.

Constance Helwig-Langlois, the daughter of John Helwig, illegally collected money from an NFL pension plan years after her father’s death. John Helwig, who played defense for the Chicago Bears in the 1950s, died in 1994, but the pension plan issued checks until the fall of 2011.

According to the Associated Press, the government says Helwig’s wife told the NFL retirement plan officials that he was still alive. When she died in 2007, their daughter kept the scheme going.
