Supreme Court Agrees to Review Health Care Law
November 14, 2011 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear a challenge to the 2010 health care overhaul law.
Reported by Rebecca Moore
The New York Times noted that the development set the stage for oral arguments by March and a decision in late June. The court’s decision to step in was expected, but Monday’s order answered many questions about just how the case will proceed, according to the news report.
In September, the Obama administration asked for a high court review of the law (see Obama Administration Asks for High Court Review of Health Care Law). Requests have also been sent by other parties as courts have issued mixed rulings on whether the mandate that all Americans obtain health care coverage is constitutional (see Plaintiffs in Florida HCR Challenge Request Supreme Court Review and Law Center Takes Health Care Challenge to Supreme Court).
