Where was the first European Colony settled in New England?
The first colony in New England was established in 1607 near the mouth of the Kennebec River in Maine, in present-day Phippsburg. It was under the leadership of George Popham.
However, the colony did not last more than one year because of a hard winter and the death of the colony’s chief sponsors.
