There are certain songs that everyone associates with Christmas.
Reported by PS
Which popular traditional “Christmas” song was not written about or for Christmas?
The answer is “Jingle Bells.”
When the song was first printed by a Boston music publishing house in 1857, it was released under the title “One Horse Open Sleigh.” When it was reissued two years later, the song had the more familiar title of “Jingle Bells.”
The song was written by financier J.P. Morgan’s uncle. There is no mention of Christmas or any other holiday in the song, but sources say it was written for Thanksgiving and first performed on Thanksgiving.
