WA City Selects TIAA-CREF for 401(a), 457 Plan RK

May 27, 2011 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - TIAA-CREF announced its selection by the City of Shoreline, Washington, as the sole recordkeeper for its 457(b) and 401(a) retirement plans, effective June 1.

Under the agreement, Shoreline plan participants will have access to: 

  • An advice platform which provides objective, personalized retirement planning tailored to individual and diverse goals and at varying life stages; 
  • An interactive customized Website where employees can go to receive plan details, account information and schedule appointments with TIAA-CREF advisers; and 
  • New fund options, supported by a comprehensive mapping feature allowing participants to be updated on current account activity.

“Following a rigorous selection process, TIAA-CREF was selected as the new provider of our retirement plans due to the depth and breadth of services they will provide,” said Julie Underwood, Shoreline City Manager, according to the announcement.

FRC Announces New President

May 26, 2011 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Financial Research Corporation (FRC), an asset management industry research and consulting firm, announced that Robert J. Jenkins has joined the firm as President.

Prior to joining FRC, Jenkins was at Fidelity Management & Research and Fidelity Investments, where he held several leadership positions, including Vice President in the Investment Analysis Group which provided portfolio analysis that guided corporate and product strategies, and in the Global Asset Allocation Group, where he held the title of Vice President and Investment Director for Fidelity’s Freedom Fund with over $120 billion in assets. He previously was a McKinsey & Co. consultant in the Asset Management strategy practice.   

Jenkins received his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and his BS from the University of Arizona.
