White House Readies OSHA Nomination
June 12, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The White House
plans to nominate John Henshaw, safety director for St.
Louis-based chemical company Astaris LLC, to lead the
Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA).
Reported by Nevin E. Adams
The appointment is expected to be announced today, according to administration officials. The Senate still must confirm Henshaw.
According to the Associated Press, Henshaw was previously director of environment, safety and health for Astaris LLC, which makes phosphorus chemicals, phosphoric acid and phosphate salt.
The report cited several union officials supportive of Henshaw’s experience in the field, including the occupational health and safety director for the Service Employees International Union and the AFL-CIO’s health and safety director.
