"Winding Up" Program Informs UK Trustees

November 19, 2007 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The UK's Pensions Regulator has issued a supplementary e-learning module, published as an additional learning tool to help trustees understand the "winding up" process.

This is the first of a suite of three and covers winding up a defined benefit (DB) scheme (plan) with a solvent employer.   According to a press release, further modules will cover winding up a DB scheme with an insolvent employer, and winding up a DC scheme.

The module, although launched from the same site as the Trustee toolkit, is supplementary learning and does not form part of the TKU requirements. Therefore, there is no self-assessment and no certificate of successful completion.

The module has been developed as part of the regulator’s commitment to encourage the speeding up of winding up and can be accessed at: http://www.trusteetoolkit.com
